Death of William D Cregan

Services for William D. Cregan, assistant manager of the central purchasing agency of the Catholic diocese of Cleveland and retired police chief of Bratenahl, will be at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 15000 Lake Shore Boulevard N.E., at 9 a.m. Monday.
Mr. Cregan, 58, suffered an apparent heart attack Thursday at the home of a son, Joseph, at 24181 Puritan Avenue, Euclid. he was pronounced dead at Euclid-Glenville Hospital.
He was a foreman at the East Ohio Gas Co. prior to 1931, when he joined the Bratenahl Police Department. Mr. Cregan was a sergeant when was made acting chief early in 1957. He was named chief later in that year. He retired in 1964 for health reasons. He had worked for the diocese since that time.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, the Association for Retired Police, the Police Chiefs Association and the Cursillo Movement.

Surviving also are his wife, Julia; two other sons, William D. and John P.; 10 grandchildren; two brothers and a sister. His home was at 419 E. 147th Street.


William D Creggan by the way, was husband of Julia McKiernan, daughter of Thomas McKiernan and Anne Finn.
